The Hilton Food and Wine Fair promises, as always, to be an event not to be missed!
Hosted each year by the Protea Hotel and Hilton Quarry Spar, the evening is held to raise funds for the Hilton Pre-Primary School. It is an event that is waited for each year with much anticipation!
If you haven’t been before – then make a note of 09 September in your diaries now, and get your tickets quickly. If you have been before you will know what a super evening is ahead, and we can’t wait to welcome you all again.
On the evening there are many different types of food, juices/ dairy products, liquors, wines and even beers, to be sampled. (Something for everyone). Many of the products that are to be tasted can be found on sale in the Hilton Quarry Spar, so this also creates an awareness for many who are marketing their products on the evening. Some items can be purchased on the evening, or you can go along to Hilton Quarry Spar to buy them there on a more regular basis.
Tickets are on sale as from Monday, 29 August, for R120 per person, at Quarry Spar, and at Hilton Pre-Primary.
Tickets are also available on the evening, at the door, at Protea Hotel Hilton.
Doors open at 18h00.

Grace College pupil, Megan Gilbert (Grade 12), has had a splendid Equestrian season, having consistently achieved well in the qualifying rounds. Her dedicated efforts have paid off and she has earned herself a well-deserved place on the KZN Nationals A Team for riding. Well done, Megan, we are very proud of you!
Thank you to everyone who supported the “Fury” Raffle this year. An amount of R46 833 was raised for 
Hannah Mulder, a Grade 3 pupil at Laddsworth, has been selected at the recent KZN qualifying competition, to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the Inter Provincial Artistic Gymnastics Central Zone Festival. Hannah will compete in the Under 9 age group, Level 1, which will be held in Pretoria on 26 and 27 August 2016.
Melokuhle Gumbi, a Grade 7 Pupil at Laddsworth broke the 150m record, in a time of 18,31s at the John Richard Memorial Athletics Meeting held at St Charles on Friday 12 August. This 150m record in the Open category has been standing since 1998. Melokuhle also came first in the 100m. Well done Melokuhle we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
Over 200 runners and walkers braved Sunday’s blustery early morning to participate in the first Winterskloof Trail Run/Walk. By the time the race started the wind had died down and a festive crowd set out down Valley Road to explore the 8km route.
Sunday morning saw the start of the first annual Winterskloof Trail Run. There was a fantastic turnout and the atmosphere was alive with community spirit.
St Anne’s is celebrating an almost full house of Gold Certificates for the groups that participated in the SASMT (South African Society of Music Teachers) Eisteddfod on Friday. The Orchestra, Choir, Vocal Ensemble and Intermediate Marimbas all achieved Gold Certificates (85% - 100%) and the Junior Marimbas narrowly missed out on Gold achieving a mark of 84%!

Laddsworth Primary School won the competition for the most amount of entries by a school for the Winterskloof Trail run/walk (14\08\2016). They won a 2200l jojo tank donated by 
Laddsworth pupils took part in the Ocean Invitational Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition held at St Mary’s School in Kloof on 6 August. Kendra achieved a Silver medal in Ball and Hoop routines, and Karla come 3rd with a Gold Medal in her age group. Well done girls!
Laddsworth sisters were awarded medals in the KZN Regional Abagility Maths Club Championship held in Kloof on Saturday, 13 August, where 250 pupils participated.
“ I have had to make serious decisions. For quite a while I have realised that my painting days are coming to an end due to my deterioration. They say that ones lifetime can be broken up in to seven years each. I am now in my 84th year so I would say there could be a lot of truth to this! So at the beginning of July the last two paintings of my painting life came off the easel. This was no easy decision as I constantly thought, “ Let’s try just one more.” You can see those two paintings here and the last collection at The Terrace.”

Each year, the St Anne’s Old Girls’ Guild recognises one of its members for dedicated service above and beyond the call of duty. The 2016 St Anne Award was presented to Annabel Rosholt as part of the Old Girls’ Day celebrations. Annabel addressed both the St Anne’s Old Girls and current students, sharing with them the extraordinary story of her determination to help disadvantaged families. She is the Project Director of the Stellenbosch Community Development Programme which she started in Kayamandi 10 years ago. Working tirelessly, she has built it in to a remarkable, self-sustaining, donor funded, non-profit organisation, which evaluates 2300 children in the community and supplies those who are malnourished with a daily meal. The SCDP has also initiated a food parcel programme for parents, encouraged the establishment of food gardens at homes and helps parents identify and create income earning opportunities through training and mentorship programmes. Annabel is making a dramatic difference in so many people’s lives and is a deserving winner of the 2016 St Anne Award.
Laddsworth Primary School had an unusual visitor on Thursday 4 August. The 
Cool Winds Pre-Primary will be having their Open Day on the 3rd of September from 9h00-12h00. We would love to show you around our beautiful school, where our children are cared for in a warm, loving and safe environment. Over the next few weeks we will be fortunate enough to have a CCTV system installed at the school. The school caters for children from 4 months to Grade R. All meals and snacks are supplied daily. School starts at 07h00, Monday to Friday, and aftercare facilities are available up to 17h30. A holiday programme is run during most of the government school holidays. The school takes pride in a well-structured educational system, where children are developed holistically. We realize that each child is unique and therefore every child has the opportunity to work at his/her own pace. Cool Winds Pre-Primary staff has a passion for education and believe that with good quality education, instilled from an early age, we are able to produce children of significance, who display the core values of Honesty, Enthusiasm, Ambition, Respect for themselves, others and the environment.
