Grace College hosted a successful netball festival on Saturday, 19 May 2012. This forms part of the annual Masihambisane (Let's walk together) outreach program at Grace College where community High Schools are given the opportunity to compete against some of our local High Schools. Apart from playing matches, team coaching took place and many new skills were learned. Bhekuximba High School won the spirit trophy, having displayed great sportsmanship during the event – congratulations! Hilton College needs no introduction; the school has been a part of the Hilton community for longer than any of us will remember. Ingrained in the history of our area Hilton is now making history again with The Gates at Hilton.
Deon Scheepers, currently the Senior Housemaster at Hilton College and Housemaster at Ellis House for the past 10 years, will become the new Headmaster at Grey College, Bloemfontein, from January 2013. He follows in the footsteps of Mr. Johan Volsteedt who has been the Headmaster at Grey College since 1993. The Hilton College community congratulate Deon Scheepers on his appointment and wish him all the best at one of South Africa's top schools.

James Rautenbach, a Grade 8 pupil from Grace College, participated in a motorcycle race in Greytown recently and came first in his class on his Honda CRF250X. James, a member of Motorsport South Africa, races frequently for the South Coast Cadets motorcycling club. Grace College is proud of his excellent achievements so far and wishes him all the best for the up-and-coming races.
Breakfast, high tea, lunch, entertainment and relaxed shopping with Mom will be part of the swinging Mother's Day action happening at The Quarry Centre on Sunday the 13th May 2012. Book early so Mom is guaranteed a memorable day away from the stove!
The boys of Hilton College and the girls of The Wykeham Collegiate produced the wonderful musical "The Pirates of Penzance" in the Hilton College Theatre. This musical production was co-directed by Cal Bray (Hilton College) and Patrick Harty (The Wykeham Collegiate).
Grace College lived up to the "Afrikaners is plesierig" motto recently when we enjoyed an Afrikaans Festival at the school. Various traditional games, such as tug-of-war, sack races, egg-and-spoon races and three-legged races were enjoyed amidst a very jovial atmosphere. Pupils also cooked "stokbrood" on the fire and had much fun learning some traditional dance moves. The evening was rounded off by watching the movie, "Platteland". Grace College would like to thank the Afrikaans Teachers, Ms. Homann, Mrs. Gevers and Mrs. Botha for organizing a most enjoyable event.

The Child and Family Welfare Society of Pietermaritzburg is a child protection organization whose mission is the optimum care and protection of all children in our community. Grace College administrative assistants and cleaning staff showed interest in improving as well as learning new computer skills during a survey done at the school in January this year. Consequently, a computer development skills programme was drawn up and run by our Headmaster's secretary, Mrs. Tarryn Bishop. We are very proud to announce that they have just completed a Microsoft Word Exam and passed with flying colours. "Well done, ladies!" More training in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint will follow. Special thanks go to Mrs. Bishop for her time given to train the staff as well as parents and local companies who generously donated computers so that we could award each of these staff members with their own computer.
The line-up The Quarry Centre have scheduled for the Jes Foord Foundation fundraiser is set to be a crowd pleaser for all ladies. We hope to see a full house including lots of beautiful Hilton faces. URGENT CONSERVATION ATTENTION REQUIRED TO BRING THE BLUE SWALLOW BACK FROM THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION
The dramatic production of "An Inspector Calls" took place last week in the Memorial Hall, at Hilton College, KZN. An Inspector Calls was first staged in 1947 and is set in 1912. It was an outstanding production and congratulations to Mr Graeme Roberts and the cast. Playwright J.B Priestley probes the attitudes and loyalties of the Edwardian English upper class in this conscience-provoking piece about pre-WWI society intended for post-WWII audiences.
