The recent bustle of events at Where the Crow’s Nest has included picnics, birthdays and a wedding - all starring homemade food by Maryna. This chef thrives on providing feasts that are always different and she is inspired by the challenge of new and different requests presented by each group that books an event to cater out or enjoy on site.
Pictured above is a carrot cake, with cream cheese icing, of course. But that is standard at Where the Crows Nest, so to define this carrot cake it was accompanied by an arrangement of chai and chocolate truffles, Kourabiedes (Greek shortbread biscuit crescents), chocolate brownies, blueberries and strawberries.
This style of celebration has enjoyed combinations of cheese platters served with sourdough bread, smoked red pepper pate, olive tapenade, peanut chutney, hummus, pepperdew chutney, marmalade, honey, anti-pasta, curried leg of lamb kebabs, biltong, dry wors as well as individual mushroom, feta and caramelised onion tartlets. All homemade and never mundane.
Waiting in the kitchen is Maryna’s own Turkish Delight confection, it has been tested and is ready to be plated up.
