Improved access to low-cost contraception and its uptake through family planning programmes has reduced maternal mortality, as well as high-risk, unplanned and teen pregnancies. It has also improved child health and nutrition.
Observed annually on 26 September, World Contraception Day highlights the rights of all couples and individuals to decide freely and responsibly on the number and spacing of their children. It also aims to improve awareness of available contraceptive methods and enable young people to make informed choices concerning their sexual and reproductive health.
Family planning services are offered at participating clinics. T&Cs apply.
