For the second year running, our Eco Committee teamed up with local conservation organization, A Rocha South Africa, for Arbor Week. We donated seven carefully selected indigenous trees (one for every day of Arbor Week) to assist with the rehabilitation of the Ferncliffe Forest.A Rocha SA Director, Mr Murray Tessendorf, met with a few of our Eco Committee members and took them on a short tour of the rehabilitation area. Together, they planted 3 of the 7 trees donated and were also able to see some of the trees donated last year. Of special significance, was one of our 2021 trees which is currently the only one of its kind in the forest, growing well in a quiet, hidden nook of the forest.
In years to come, hopefully this young tree will tower above the city and start to rebuild the forest canopy that once flourished here. As a platinum eco-school, we remain committed to the work of rebuilding this forest.
