And then there was a sinkhole... about 800m along from the Celtis Road junction in Cuckoo Lane, Winterskloof Hilton on the left-hand side lane an alarmingly large sinkhole has formed. This has necessitated the closure of the road. The sinkhole extends halfway into the road and while some tar remains intact, it is undermined as far as 2m or so from the shoulder.'The situation in Cuckoo Lane is very dangerous and could collapse at any moment. Contractors and engineers will be assessing the situation in the next couple of days, which is being handled as an emergency.
Cuckoo Lane will be closed from Celtis and only residents will be allowed access to Nos 1-8.
There will be a marked Detour for residents of the rest of Cuckoo Lane.' advised DA Councillor Pam Passmoor.
