On the 4th of November 2016, the boys from Hilton 242 Round Table hosted their second charity poker evening of the year. The increased number of players at this event, showed the increasing support of this young, driven team of men who are doing their bit to help raise money for charities that are in need. The set up was the same as the first event, where all the buy in monies went into the pot and was divided into a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place values. The top three players could then nominate there charity of choice to receive there portion as a donation. The top three all walked away with a delicious meat hamper as well as vouchers, shirts, a trophy and a few other prizes for all their hard work.
The event continued on for quite a few hours, which involved a lot of laughter, joking, card playing, banter, good food and one or two liquid refreshments. (Which were available on the night) as the night went on, there were lucky draw prizes, and all who took part in the event went home with something.
As the night went on and the three tables slowly turned into the final main table, the support shown by the players who had already played their final hand, was incredible! At the end of it all, first place went to Charles Kirton who donated his portion of the pot (R3600-00) to Freeme Animal Rehabilitation Center, second place went to Nicky Hockey who donated her portion (R2400-00) to the Howick SPCA, and third place went to Lyle Vorster who donated his portion (R1200-00) to PMB SPCA. A grand total of R7200-00 was for charity that evening!
