Hilton Bowling Club news 17 January 2016

The past week was a very busy one at our club with normal tabs-in games on Tuesday, a competition and the AGM on Thursday, the Artisan’s 2-4-2 on Friday and Nominated Pairs matches all week-end. Bill’s Extra Bash on Thursday was won by Derick Hull, John Fowler and John Pluke. Runners-up were Fred Palmer, Dave Stevenson and Bev Davidge. Thanks to Bill Lambert for sourcing the prizes for this extra treat.

 

The AGM started off with several minor changes to the constitution being approved unanimously. The out-going President, Thelma Mylne concluded her report by thanking the members of her committee for their input during her term of office and conferring Honorary Life Membership on Derick Hull for his outstanding service to the club over many years. The meeting moved on to the election of new Executive Committee members for the year ahead. Johan Barkhuizen, President of NIBA then presented trophies and certificates to the winners of various competitions played during the year. Nina Guest and Mike Guest were identified as the Most Improved new bowlers during 2015.

 

After Johan had addressed us on developments and plans for bowls in the future, the meeting was adjourned and we spent a happy hour chatting and consuming the tasty goodies supplied by members.

 

Winners of the Artisan’s 2-4-2- were Graham and Lynn Cameron. Dave Trickett and Rita Aitken won vouchers from Nino’s. Sincere thanks to Artisan’s Pizza and Pasta and Nino’s for their support.

 

We managed to get through all the preliminary rounds of the Nominated Ladies’ and Men’s Pairs competition and will have the finals on Thursday this week.
