This year the Laddsworth Primary School Grade 7 play was based on ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, originally a 1960’s comedy horror movie which then became an Off Broadway musical production with subsequent revivals on screen and stage during the 1980’s.Every Grade 7 pupil participated in the production, even the tech team were included in on-stage performances. Di Smythe did an excellent job of casting each child in a role that fitted their comfort zone, showcased their abilities or stretched them to the point of realising hidden talents. The hard work of her support team comprising many staff members as well as family and friends of Laddsworth is appreciated.
The unforgettable stars of the play that must bear mentioning are the family of plants, created by the Bullock family. These impressive 3D artworks added an element of awe and visual enjoyment to the performance. The backdrops crafted by Laurie Raubenheimer were perfectly suited to the storyline.
Four consecutive performances concluded in two full house evening shows. Audiences approved heartily of the entertainment presented.
