On Saturday 28th February 2015 in wet and muddy conditions Laddsworth Primary School staff, pupils, parents, old boys and girls as well as grandparents, siblings and even some aunts and uncles gathered for the Big Walk. Hot drinks and breakfast rolls kept spirits buoyant and by starting time the rain had eased, making for greatly improved walking conditions.
A total of 818 people walked on the day and the catering was a sell out!
Adding to the excitement were challenges put to the children by Jeremy Farquharson and Sihle Khumalo who agreed to embarrass themselves if any of the children were able to complete more laps than they did. Eleven children managed to better the achievements of both challengers resulting in Jeremy Farquharson and Sihle Nxumalo donning angel wings and wigs in front of the whole school during the Monday morning assembly.
Our class representatives were tasked with sourcing prizes for the day and as a result of their sterling efforts we can thank all of the following for prizes donated; The Cavern, Meadow Lane Country Cottages, Wedgewood, Steers of Hilton, Jewellery by Diana, Bella Donna Hair and Beauty, The Barn Restaurant, Bailee Guy 123 Photography, The Salon at Garlington, Hilton Quarry Spar, Nikki's the Gift Shop, Jaxx Restaurant, Artisan Pizza, Darren the Barber at Bella Donna, The Beauty Institute, Salvage Warehouse, NCT, Freshly Picked salad items from Kingsley Wholesale, Hilton Road Garage, Pro-Train, Nicolson's Restaurant, Woodpecker Woodworks, T-Squared Labour Consultants, Living it Green, Splash, Rosewood Collectibles, Tasty Biltong, Beauty by Tegan, M & S Foods and Oodles.
