Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell also known as B-P was born on the 22nd February in 1857. Laddsworth Primary School pupils from Howick 1st Cubs and Scouts proudly wore their scout uniforms to school on Monday the 23rd to honour the man behind the lasting scout movement, which today numbers between 25 and 40 million global members.
B-P grew up adventuring in woods near his school, yachting around the south coast of England and canoeing the Thames to its source. On another, they traced the Thames to its source by canoe. This grounding is replicated by local scouts who meet in the Midlands and undertake various outdoor challenges to earn badges of accomplishment.
