SUMMARY:Manor Hall Open Garden
LOCATION:9 Manor Hall\, 62 Hilton Avenue
DESCRIPTION:Upcoming Open Midlands Garden - Sat 10 & Sun 11 October. Located at Man
or Hall in Hilton, this semi-formal garden owned by Vinnie Jones and Kathy
Jacob combines structure and sustainability within a thoughtfully designed
residential landscape.\nClipped box hedges and defined garden walls create
a strong architectural framework, softened by a mix of indigenous and non-i
ndigenous plantings that bring seasonal colour and contrast throughout the
garden. A traditional croquet lawn provides an elegant focal point, complem
ented by a peaceful garden pond and a selection of feature pots that add in
terest and character to key spaces.\nSustainability is a central theme of t
he garden’s design. A former swimming pool has been converted into an under
ground storage tank, forming part of an integrated water harvesting system
that collects runoff from gutters and greywater for use in the garden’s spr
inkler system. In addition, a separate rainwater harvesting tank collects w
ater from the garage roof, supplying domestic use and further reducing reli
ance on municipal water.\nA small greenhouse supports year-round vegetable
production, reflecting a practical and productive approach within the ornam
ental setting. Together, these elements create a garden that is both visual
ly structured and environmentally conscious.\nFree refreshments will be ava
ilable for visitors during open garden days.\nDates: Sat 10 & Sun 11 Oc
tober\nTimes: 9am to 4pm\nAddress: 9 Manor Hall, 62 Hilton Ave, Leonard Hil
ton\nDirections: From Pmb, travel up Old Howick Rd. Turn right at the Cross
