Little Polands Creation Wine Evening
Written by Desiree HickinbothamTo add to the sparkle and romance of February, Little Poland hosted a delightful wine evening for Creation Wines, a fairly new wine estate in Hermanus.
Creation Wine farm was discovered by Jean-Clade Martin and his wife
Carolyn in 2002, the virgin land was planted with virus-free strains which attracted an investment from Christph Kaser and his wife Heidi Kellerhals in 2005. Since the first harvest in 2007 the wines coming out of Creation have carved a niche market amongst wine lovers locally as well as internationally.
Mira of Little Poland paired these wines with Canapes, fresh grilled fish, Boeuf a la Stroganoff, Roast Loin of Pork and a dark chocolate gateaux creating a memorable evening of indulgence.
Our favourite white was the Creation Sauvignon Blanc which is a perfect wine for Summer evenings and the reds were a less easy choice. The Merlot’s berry spiciness, the Bordeaux-style blends deep aroma and the Syrah Grenache with it’s pepper and plum tones all had great appeal. Finally a compromise was reached and we decided on the Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Petit Verdot.
Watch out for these wine evenings, they are definitely a culinary highlight on Hilton’s calendar. Mira will be hosting more of these food and wine combination events in the future at Little Poland.
